Program Notes

This simple project was virtually all MIDI, with the exception of the bass part. Rex had the idea of doing a Bud & Cletus bluegrass tune featuring some banjo picking, but of course no one had a banjo, nor could play one if they had. Thanks to the fabulous world of MIDI, that wasn't a problem. Bud & Cletus would be on the fiddle in true Country Boy Eddie style, naturally, and once again MIDI had to come to the rescue. The only user intervention to the MIDI parts was the use of the pitch bend wheel for recording the fiddle parts. The MIDI data was fed from the computer into the Casio keyboard, then back to the computer as audio data to be recorded. The MIDI parts were tweaked and then recorded during the first session. The next session was devoted to recording the few vocal parts interspersed throughout the tune.
